It is comparable to the popular CPM-3V steel in terms of toughness and has similar edge retention to CPM S30V/S35VN. Although it is not completely stainless, the chromium content in this steel gives it some resistance to corrosion, even surpassing that of D2 steel. The knife's high toughness and hardness allow for a thinner edge, resulting in improved performance.
