About the Brand:
The Higonokami pocketknife is a traditional Japanese knife known for its simplicity and durability. Unlike other knives, it doesn't have a delicate locking mechanism. Instead, users need to firmly hold the extended spine to keep the blade fixed in place.
The history of the Higonokami dates back to the late 19th century when it was named after its main trading market, Kumamoto Prefecture, which was known as "Higonokui" in ancient times. Originally, this pocketknife was widely used for various household and outdoor tasks. It was also an essential tool for Japanese students who used it to sharpen pencils before sharpeners became popular.
The maker of the Higonokami, Nagaokoma Seisakusho, was established in the 27th year of the Meiji era (1894). With a history of over a century, they are the sole trademark owner of "Higonokami" to this day.
