The Junior folder knife was created by Romanian Technical Manager Alexandru Diaconescu, inspired by his young son's desire for his first pocketknife. Diaconescu wanted to ensure the knife was safe and easy to use, so he designed it with a prominent guard behind the sharp edge of the blade. This guard not only allows for a secure grip on the knife but also prevents fingers from accidentally sliding forward and coming into contact with the sharp edge.
The Junior folder is designed to be comfortable for users of all ages and hand sizes, whether they are adults or juveniles. The G-10 handle features a guard that leaves little space for a locking mechanism, so a Spyderco Compression Lock was added for its compact size and impressive strength. The knife also features screw-together construction, an oversized lanyard hole, and a deep pocket left- or right-handed tip-up wire clip, all of which enhance its functionality.
The blade of the Junior folder is made from VG-10 steel and is ground full-flat for optimal cutting performance. It is offered with a PlainEdge for precise cutting. The knife also includes non-skid jimping located on top of the spine behind the Spyderco Round Hole for added grip and control.
