The Manix 2 XL is a larger version of the popular Manix 2 knife, featuring a blade that is just under four inches in length. It utilizes Spyderco's innovative Ball Bearing Lock, which consists of a steel ball-bearing enclosed in a polymer cage. When the knife is opened, the ball bearing moves forward and wedges itself onto the blade's ramp, securely locking it in place. The spherical shape of the ball allows the lock to self-adjust across a wide surface area, ensuring a smooth and reliable lock-up every time the knife is opened.
The blade itself is made of CPM-S30V steel and features a full-flat grind, along with jimping above the oversized 14mm Spyderco Round Hole for easy and precise handling. The handle of the Manix 2 XL is constructed with G-10 scales, with the liners extending beyond the scales to create a scalloped pattern around the handle's perimeter. This design not only provides extra grip, but also adds strength and durability to the handle while keeping it lightweight. Additionally, the handle includes a reversible pocket clip and a large lanyard tube for convenient carry options.
