The Tusk knife was originally created by Sal Glesser of Spyderco as a tool for mariners. However, due to limited technology at the time, the concept couldn't be fully realized. Now, after 25 years, Sal's son Eric Glesser has reintroduced the original Tusk with some modern updates.
Designed as a high-quality mariner's tool, the Tusk is constructed using materials that are highly resistant to rust. The blade is made from LC-200-N, a durable tool steel alloy with high nitrogen content, while the marlinspike is crafted from 300-series stainless steel.
The titanium handle of the Tusk features the Reeve Integral Lock, ensuring secure handling, and also includes a ceramic Ball Bearing Lock for the marlinspike. The knife has a round-to-square cross section, making it effective for loosening knots.
The marlinspike itself is equipped with a small shackle key, and when closed, it forms a larger shackle key. This allows for efficient management of various sizes and types of shackles.
For convenience, the Spyderco Tusk comes with a reversible pocket clip and a lanyard hole, providing easy access and portability.
