The Spartan CQB tool is a specially designed knife for Close Quarters Battle. It is called a ring dagger because it has a ring on the end, and it comes with a kydex sheath. The sheath is designed to be easily removed from the ring for quick access. You can attach the sheath to a vest using MOLLE/PALS, or carry it on your belt or inside your waistband.
The idea for the CQB tool came from Greg Thompson, an instructor who teaches close quarters fighting techniques to the US Special Forces. He is the owner and founder of the H2H/Team ROC training group and the developer of the Special Operations Combatives Program (SOCP). This knife is part of the gear used in the program.
The CQB Tool, also known as the "transition tool," is used to complement the combatives program. It is a slim and easily stowed knife that can be quickly accessed in grappling situations during a CQB fight. The ring and slim design allow the operator to pull out the dagger quickly, break free from an attacker's grasp, and then transition back to their primary weapon without needing to re-sheath the knife until it is safe to do so.
