Its hollow-ground tanto blade—now with a slight recurve and made from Bohler M390 steel—flips open smoothly on a ball bearing pivot. There, the frame lock engages. For a normal knife, that would be enough; with the T1000, we're just getting started! You can engage two other optional locks: a button on either side of the pivot. Push these in, and there are now three points of contact keeping the blade secure; you can also engage the two button locks when the knife is closed. These buttons aren't traditional button locks. To disengage them, push up on the slider on the spine of the knife's handle. Despite its size, the T1000 is ergonomic and smooth to operate.
