The Gen III Microtech LUDT (Large Underwater Demolition Team) is a modern iteration of Microtech's first knife, the UDT, which was built with powerful automatic action that could fire the blade while underwater. The first version of the knife was produced over twenty years ago, and there have been a lot of little changes and improvements since then. The Gen III LUDT differs in several subtle but significant ways from its most recent predecessor: minor styling changes, the inclusion of inlays, its use of standard Torx screws, and—most notably—its ultra-smooth, ultra-solid silica carbide ball bearing pivot. This LUDT is the first Microtech automatic knife to feature Microtech's proprietary Bohler M390MK super steel, which has improved edge retention over conventional M390. If you need a pocket knife you can rely on that will hold its razor edge and fire reliably, this latest LUDT is sure to satisfy.
