Kizer Assassin Button Lock Green Micarta (3.1&quot; SW) V3549C1

I have procured a couple of Kizer knives and been happy with both of them.  I purchased the Assassin as a gift and found myself having giver&#039;s remorse.  It flips open with ease and I can open and close it with one hand.  That&#039;s important to me and the reason I primarily gravitated to Benchmade folders.  I doubt if the button lock is as sturdy as a liner lock but I&#039;ll save that type of work for fixed blades in any case.  154CM steel is not as good as CMP154 (the powder metallurgy version with a finer grain structure which imparts toughness &amp; strength), it is still great steel; particularly at this price point.  It came sharp but I did polish the edge before gifting it.  Edge retention has been good.  Now I think I&#039;ll pick one up for myself.   

I&#039;ll start off by saying this thing feels great in hand. It&#039;s heavy-ish so it doesn&#039;t feel like a toy, the micarta is grippy, the button lock is very fidget friendly, well constructed, and it just has a presence when holding it. That said, the major issue is one of design. The knife came to me with no obviously out-of-spec parts, everything looks and functions as the pictures and reviews seem to show. The blade hits the backspacer screw standoff just barely when closing. It&#039;s enough to cause a small flat spot right in the front belly of the cutting edge, maybe a third of the way from the tip. I can rectify it with a slight re-profile of the edge, but I feel like that shouldn&#039;t have to be done. If I had just received this and didn&#039;t have my sharpening kit this would have really bummed me out. As it is I&#039;m a little bummed I have to put in work on a brand new blade, but given the nature of it I don&#039;t think an exchange would solve the problem.
