Introducing the Kershaw 5500 Collateral, a knife designed with innovative features for style and performance. This knife features the new SLT (Spring-Loaded Tab) hidden flipper tab technology, originally created by custom knifemaker Gus T. Cecchini of GTC Knives.
The Collateral's SLT flipper works similarly to other Kershaw flippers, with the blade opening quickly and easily using SpeedSafe assisted opening. However, the SLT adds a unique twist. When the knife is closed, a short tab stays hidden within the handle, protruding just enough for your finger to grab hold. To open the knife, simply pull back on the tab to a halfway position, and then once more to deploy the blade. With a little practice, you can engage the flipper in a single, swift motion. Once the blade is open, the tab is once again hidden within the handle, maintaining the knife's sleek profile and preventing any snagging on loose items in your pocket.
The Collateral features a 3.25-inch clip-point blade made of 8Cr13MoV stainless steel. This high-quality steel holds a sharp edge and is easy to re-sharpen when needed. The handle is contoured for comfort and provides a secure grip. It is finished with titanium carbo-nitride, which not only enhances the knife's corrosion resistance but also adds a visually appealing touch. To further enhance the knife's aesthetics, Kershaw has added an angled carbon fiber insert to the front handle.
For convenience, the Collateral includes a reversible pocket clip, allowing for both left- and right-handed carry. Additionally, it features an extra-large lanyard hole, providing the opportunity for customization and personalization.
Overall, the Kershaw 5500 Collateral is a well-designed knife that combines functionality, style, and ease of use.
