The Filipino Bolo Sword is available in various shapes and sizes. The particular sword that served as the inspiration for this project was obtained from Guru Dan Inosanto's private family collection. This style of Bolo sword is known as a Talibong and has a rich history of being pitted against formidable blades such as the Kris, Barong, Kampilan, and even the Japanese Katana. It was extensively used by courageous Filipino soldiers who fought for America during World War II and the Korean War. Out of the original 260,000 Filipino Veterans who served, there are currently around 17,000 survivors. As a gesture of support, Cold Steel will be donating 10 percent of the profit from this sword to the Filipino Veterans Recognition and Education Project. The funds will be used to purchase replica Congressional Gold Medals for the surviving veterans and their families. The sword comes with a sheath made of black leather and embossed nickel.
