Boker Schloss Burg Club Knife Oak Wood

Castle Burg, located in the Bergisches Land region of Germany, is a remarkable landmark that overlooks the Wupper River near the Boker Manufactory. Originally built in 1133 on the foundations of a 10th-century fortress, it stands as one of the largest castles in western Germany. The castle holds great historical significance, being closely tied to the Duchy of Berg and the influential Counts von Berg (1068-1225) who possessed immense wealth and power in Northrhine-Westphalia. Count Engelbert II. von Berg, who was also the Archbishop of Cologne, played a significant role in the castle's history. Boker, a company with roots tracing back to 1674, has a strong connection to Burg Castle and the Bergisches Land. The company's trade symbol, the tree, was first associated with tools during this time. Boker maintains a close relationship with the historians of Burg Castle, as they share a common history. Currently, extensive restoration work is underway at the castle, including the replacement of ancient oak planks. Inspired by this preservation effort, Boker skillfully repurposes the historic oak wood into handle scales for their knife series called Boker Schloss Burg. These knives, which come in seven traditional styles, embody the rich history of the castle. In addition to the historic oak wood scales sourced from Burg Castle, the Boker Schloss Burg knives feature brass liners and blades made from O1 carbon steel. To enhance their authenticity and protect them from environmental damage, the blades undergo a special acid wash finish. Each knife is meticulously handcrafted by Boker Manufactory Solingen and is part of a strictly limited edition of 1133 pieces worldwide. They also bear a new version of the historic Boker tree symbol and come with an individual serial number. One of the knife styles in the Boker Schloss Burg series is the traditional Boker Club Knife. It is the elegant counterpart to the well-known Boker Sports Knife, also known as the Camp Knife in North America. While the dimensions of the Club Knife are similar to its counterpart, it boasts a more streamlined design without any tool cutouts. Unlike the Sports Knife, the Club Knife does not have a metal bail for attaching a knife chain. The historic blade design of the Club Knife does not feature a locking mechanism. Instead, it is equipped with a long nail nick, also known as a long pull, which has fine teeth that are perfect for striking matches. Each knife in the series is unique, with its own individual serial number.
