Boker Trapper Schloss Burg Series Oak Wood Handle O1 Carbon Steel Knife

Burg Castle, located in the Bergisches Land region of Germany, is a significant landmark that overlooks the Wupper River near the Boker Manufactory. Originally built in 1133 on the remains of a 10th-century fortress, it stands as one of the largest castles in western Germany. The castle is closely tied to the Duchy of Berg and the Counts von Berg, showcasing their wealth and influence in Northrhine-Westphalia. Count Engelbert II. von Berg, who was also the Archbishop of Cologne, has a notable connection to Burg Castle. We maintain a close relationship with the historians of Burg Castle because our company, Boker, has a history dating back to 1674. The tree symbol, which represents our trade in tools, was first introduced during this time. Our roots are deeply intertwined with the history of the Bergisches Land. Currently, extensive restoration work is being carried out on the castle, including the replacement of ancient oak planks. This inspired us to preserve the historic material and skillfully incorporate it into the handle scales of our knives at the Boker Manufactory. This led to the creation of our Boker Schloss Burg knife series, consisting of seven traditional knife styles with a rich historical background. In addition to the historic oak wood sourced from Burg Castle, these knives feature brass liners and blades made from O1 carbon steel. To enhance their authenticity, the blades are finished with a special acid wash that not only adds a unique aesthetic but also provides protection against environmental damage. Each style is meticulously handcrafted by the Boker Manufactory in Solingen and is strictly limited to 1133 pieces worldwide. They also come with a new version of the historic Boker tree symbol. One of the knife styles in this series is the classic Boker Trapper, named after the American outdoorsmen who played a vital role as hunters and trappers in the North American prairie. These individuals were instrumental in exploring and scouting for European settlers, often being the first to interact with indigenous peoples. The slim design of the Trapper knife makes it an ideal everyday companion. Each knife in the series is assigned an individual serial number, adding to its uniqueness and collectability.
